M60 Audenshaw drainage remediation and upgrade
30th Apr 2026
Kilkern is helping to improve resilience on one of Greater Manchester’s busiest motorway routes – the M60 at Audenshaw – with a programme of essential drainage upgrades.
The company was selected by Octavius Infrastructure to deliver specialist highways services as part of wider improvements. Kilkern’s scope of works includes construction of new manhole chambers and installation of new channel drainage, V-shaped channel, carrier and filter drains.

The project forms part of National Highways’ upgrade programme on the M60 between junctions 23 and 24. The scheme also includes resurfacing, new road markings and safety barrier upgrades designed to improve safety and long-term network performance.
Developing highways expertise
Patrick Curran, Director at Kilkern, said: “We have been very focused on developing our highways expertise, enabling us to deliver integrated drainage and surfacing solutions on major road schemes. Projects such as the M60 at Audenshaw demonstrate the value of specialist delivery and collaborative working in maintaining critical transport infrastructure.
“The M60 is a vital arterial route in the North West and it is essential that works are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to motorists. We are increasingly recognised for delivering turnkey highways solutions that provide confidence and peace of mind to our clients and partners.”
