Milestone at Soot Hill

The successful cranelift to install the concrete beams at Soot Hill marks another important milestone in the repair of the landslide-damaged road.

The Kilkern civil engineering and highways team is working with main contractor Balfour Beatty plc to carry out remediation work following collapse of a retaining wall dating back to the 1800s.

Kilkern’s £1.2m programme includes stabilisation works, the installation of a new king post-piled retaining wall with sandstone cladding plus the provision of a new surface water drainage system, kerbing and footpaths.

Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd appointed Kilkern on behalf of the client, Cheshire West and Chester Council through the SCAPE framework.

Completion is expected before the end of 2023.
