Supporting Incredible Edible Knowsley
16th Jun 2026
A big thank you to Kilkern‘s Dean Quinn, Josh Riley and John Cunnane who volunteered for Incredible Edible Knowsley’s Community Action Day.

The Liverpool-based charity takes a holistic approach to wellbeing, creating a connected community using food as a catalyst for social change. Based at Court Hey Park in Huyton, Incredible Edible Knowsley combats food poverty and isolation through communal growing, horticultural training, and a sustainable Food Club. It seeks to reconnect people with fresh produce, to foster a healthier, more inclusive, and resilient local community.
More than 20 companies attended this year’s Community Action Day, providing resources, labour and skills for a range of tasks including painting, repair and maintenance across the charity’s buildings and gardens.
The Kilkern volunteers were presented with the challenge of converting a water butt into a serving station. As the photographs show, they did an excellent job fitting a door, roof, hatch and counter – imaginative and practical recycling that can be used by everyone at the charity.

Patrick Curran, Director, Kilkern said: “We’re proud to see our team supporting such a valuable initiative which is making a real difference to people’s lives, encouraging them to think about the food they eat, where it comes from and the contribution that everyone can make to food sourcing.
“At Kilkern, we take our role in the community very seriously and so we were delighted to be able to help out on the action day.”
