Kilkern awarded Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant water mains pipeworks and connections

2nd Oct 2025

Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant (LSEP) has awarded civil engineering and infrastructure specialist Kilkern the contract to install both the foul and potable mains water connections for the project – and works are progressing at pace.

LSEP is an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility currently under construction near Northwich in Cheshire.  Under the new contract, Kilkern will design and build a new 640m combined foul and trade effluent sewer and a new 1300m potable water pipeline to connect to existing public networks.

Kilkern Director, Patrick Curran, believes that the new contract award positively reflects both the business’s reputation for utilities work and its existing delivery on LSEP.

“The mains connections works extends our relationship with the LSEP into its sixth year and we are very proud that our works will form an intrinsic part of the project’s success,” he said. “Over the project’s lifetime, we have been responsible for several civil engineering and construction elements – from building roadways to designing and installing the fire fighting ring main.

“We feel we have built a very positive relationship with LSEP and look forward to working with them to bring about the successful completion of this latest contract.

LSEP is a joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and FCC Environment. Once operational, LSEP will export 69.9MW of electricity to the grid using residual waste – the waste material remaining once materials that can be recycled have been removed – as a fuel.
